Focus on fathers for Vector Arena event

Vector Arena will welcome more than 1500 fathers from all over Auckland on August 26 for the inspiring Auckland Mayoral Fathers’ Breakfast.

This will be the first time it has been held at Vector Arena, although the increasingly popular event has been going for 14 years.

The breakfast, organised by Parents Inc, gathers together fathers of all ages and backgrounds to share their experiences, and hear top executives talk about their most important role – that of being a father.

“We’re delighted to host it and to support an organisation that does so much for Aucklanders. The arena was built for the people of New Zealand and we look forward to holding many more such events,” says general manager, Guy Ngata.

A father of two himself, Mr Ngata attended the Fathers’Breakfast last year and enjoyed it so much that he contacted Parents Inc CEO Bruce Pilbrow to see how Vector Arena could get involved.

“I appreciate the philosophy behind getting fathers together at this event, to give them the skills to pass on to their children the building blocks of a meaningful life,” he says.

Topping the list of fathers speaking at the breakfast are Sir Brian Lochore, former All Black captain, coach and manager, John Campbell, host of TV3’s Campbell Live programme, and Andrew Grant, managing director, McKinsey Greater China.

Parents Inc founder Ian Grant, writer and presenter John Cowan and CEO Bruce Pilbrow will also share in the event, which is hosted by Auckland City Mayor John Banks.

Also at Vector Arena in September is Westfield Style Pasifika, a community-oriented showcase of spectacular fashion and entertainment tinged with a taste of the South Pacific.

It is New Zealand’s premier fashion awards combined with music, dance and culture - it is an extraordinary and exciting celebration of New Zealand’s place in the Pacific and in the world.
