ARTA Media Release

Bus replacements on the Eastern Line on Saturday evening

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) advises that a revised timetable will be operating on the Eastern Line after 8.00pm on Saturday 9 August to allow for the completion of ongoing work to improve the rail network.

ARTA's General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert says, “The bus replacement services support continuing work on the development of Auckland's rail network. The work being undertaken this weekend includes the completion of re-railing work in Purewa Tunnel.

"Bus replacements will be in place between Britomart and Otahuhu on the Eastern Line on the evening of Saturday 9 August from 8.00pm onwards. The last Eastern Line train to Otahuhu will depart from Britomart at 7.40pm, and the last Eastern Line train to Britomart will depart Otahuhu at 7.06pm. After this time, all services will travel via the Southern Line and bus replacements will be in place for Eastern Line stations.”

Where buses replace trains, normal train fares will apply for the entire journey. Passengers should look out for the RAIL BUS sign at affected stations.

Passengers are advised to check timetables carefully before travelling.

Southern and Western Line services will be operating normally.

"We understand that the bus replacements may cause disruptions to passengers. The support and understanding of passengers while this important work is taking place is greatly appreciated,” Mr Lambert says.

Passengers can get more information about the bus replacements and about Eastern Line train timetables from MAXX on (09) 366 6400 or at www.maxx.co.nz
