Fun and giggles to be had at New Zealand’s Biggest Storytime

Join in New Zealand’s biggest storytime at Manukau Libraries later this month.

On Wednesday 20 August at 10.30am work will cease in libraries across the country as children, parents and library staff take time out to enjoy the story of the little pig with the really big name Piggity-Wiggity Jiggity Jig by New Zealand author Diana Neild.

Learning and Literacy Coordinator for Manukau Libraries Jody Gayton says “Piggity-Wiggity is a wonderful read-aloud rhyme and rhythm story that trips off the tongue with fun language and sophisticated vocabulary.

“Parents or caregivers bring your children along and spend some special time with them.  We guarantee it will be lots of fun,” says Jody.

Manukau Libraries hosting Biggest Storytime events include:

Botany Library
Howick Library – they also have a bunch of piggy themed stories followed by a craft activity
Mangere Town Centre Library
Otara Library
Pakuranga Library – The biggest read will be followed with music, songs and colouring
Papatoetoe Library – Following storytime children can make a piggy mask to keep
Te Matariki Clendon Library
Tupu Library
New Zealand’s Biggest Storytime is a Library Week event.  Now in its 35th year, Library Week is celebrated throughout New Zealand and runs from Monday 18 August to Sunday 24 August.  The week is a great opportunity to learn about the services libraries offer and the role they play in the community.
