Four families were evacuated from houses in Unsworth Heights in North Shore City last evening following a landslip .
Properties affected are from 137 to 143 Albany Highway, which back on to a steep gully and the North Shore City Council’s Spoonbill Reserve.
Police were involved with the evacuations last night, and the city’s Civil Defence staff assisted with placing residents with relatives and friends. One family went to a motel.
The four properties are served by their own water supply tanks and septic tanks, and therefore no City stormwater and wastewater lines are affected One water supply tank moved down the slip and is to be drained of water today.
Engineers and surveyors for the EQC are assessing movement in the slip, which has involved an estimated 60,000 tonnnes of material, and are expected to advise homeowners of the outlook for their homes over the next few days.
The properties are cordoned off and security is in place.
