Manukau city welcomes new police district commander

Manukau City Council congratulates Superintendent Mike Bush on his appointment as Counties Manukau Police district commander.

Acting Manukau Mayor Arthur Anae says councillors are looking forward to meeting Mr Bush and welcoming him to the city.

"The council has a very good working relationship with Counties Manukau Police thanks in large part to the outstanding leadership of Superintendent Steve Shortland," Mr Anae says.

"We look forward to working collaboratively with Mr Bush as community safety is our council's top priority," Mr Anae says.

"Mr Bush's experience overseas will have been a good preparation for working in our multicultural city.

"His extensive CIB experience will also be an asset for our district."

Police do an outstanding job in Counties Manukau under sometimes challenging circumstances, Mr Anae says.
