“Imagine, Build, Play With K’nex” At Sky Tower

MEDIA RELEASE

September 11, 2008
“Imagine, Build, Play With K’nex” At Sky Tower

From September 29 to October 12 the Sky Tower will launch its September school holiday experience in association with K’Nex, the world’s most innovative and creative construction toy brand.

Throughout the holidays, the Sky Tower will display impressive large scale K’Nex models including:

• a 2 metre moving T’Rex dinosaur
• a fully working carnival, complete with a moving ferris wheel and a Vertical Vengeance rollercoaster
• these giant models will be flanked by a musical ferris wheel and further rollercoasters.

Inspired by the giant models, families will be invited to meet Scotty Sky Tower and his builder friends in the Sky Lounge, 182 metres above Auckland, to ‘Build a Show’. Children will be entertained with stories, song and dance with a construction theme. The show is a group activity that runs every hour between 10.00am until 3.30pm.

The Sky Deck, the highest viewing deck in New Zealand at 220m, will also provide a creative outlet for children as they help to build an entire city out of K’Nex. This project will grow over the school holidays culminating in a large-scale installation piece on October 12.

All kids will receive a K’Nex “Builders Certificate” for their contribution to building the cityscape and the first 1,500 kids to participate will receive a free K’Nex mini model for children aged 5 & over.

Children can also get creative by entering the ‘Build Your Own Sky Tower’ Competition from September 29 to October 12. Kids can build their very own Sky Tower models out of any material, and the entries will be judged by mascot Scotty Sky Tower himself. The winner of each age group will receive an exciting K’Nex prize pack worth $500 that will include tubes, model cases and full sets.
