Morning tea kicks off Active Week for Seniors at the Leisure Centre
A free morning tea at the Leisure Centre in Whangaparaoa will provide seniors with the fuel they need to get through a busy week of free events at the centre.
The morning tea is being held at the Leisure Centre on Monday November 24 from 10.30am. People aged 60 and over who want to find out more about what the centre has to offer are encouraged to come along to the event.
As space is limited, those who would like to attend the morning tea are being asked to contact the centre on 09 424 1914 by Thursday November 20 to RSVP.
The morning tea is being held to launch ‘Senior’s Week.’ From November 24th – 28th people aged 60 and over are able to use a wide variety of Leisure Centre facilities for free as part of this annual event.
The centre has a wide range of facilities, including fitness and cardio studios, squash courts, and, of course, a 25 metre heated pool.
The centre also offers a range of low impact classes, such as yoga, gentle circuit, aqua classes and indoor bowls. Anyone can take part in the classes and a high level of fitness is not required to participate.
Most facilities at the Leisure Centre are accessible for people in wheelchairs. Swimming, in particular, is known to be a beneficial form of exercise for people recovering from an injury.
The Leisure Centre is also offering seniors who join up during this special week the chance to win 12 months free membership.
With the range of services provided by the Leisure Centre on offer for free during Senior’s Week, keeping fit has never been so easy!
