Use MAXX to plan your journey during the festive season

Rail passengers are advised that from Boxing Day, a significantly revised train timetable and a comprehensive programme of railbus replacements will be in operation until Sunday 18 January 2009. This is to accommodate major construction work to upgrade the rail network being undertaken by ONTRACK.

The timetable for this period is now available and passengers can get full details from MAXX via the website www.maxx.co.nz, or by calling (09) 366 6400.

ARTA’s General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert says, “The vital developments on the network will contribute considerably to the future delivery of improved rail frequency and services for the Auckland region.

“The works have been scheduled for this time with the aim of creating the minimum amount of inconvenience for commuters, as passenger numbers during this period are at their lowest for the year.

“As some of the construction taking place can only be done when there are no trains running, we have scheduled a timetable of railbus replacements on affected lines. We would strongly recommend that passengers leave plenty of time to complete their journeys, and consult the MAXX website before travelling.

“The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA), ONTRACK and Veolia wish to thank passengers in advance for their patience at this time”.

Service Information

Railbuses will replace scheduled train services as follows:

Friday 26 December 2008 to Sunday 4 January 2009

WESTERN LINE: Britomart to Waitakere
Sunday services to run from, and terminate at New Lynn
There are no bus replacement services to Helensville throughout this period

SOUTHERN LINE: Britomart to Otahuhu (via Newmarket South)
EASTERN LINE: Britomart to Panmure

Monday 5 to Sunday 18 January 2009

WESTERN LINE: Britomart to Helensville
Sunday services to run from, and terminate at New Lynn

SOUTHERN LINE: Britomart to Otahuhu (via Newmarket South)

Passengers are also reminded that there are no rail (or railbus replacement) services provided on Christmas Day.

To cater for the Big Day Out at Mt Smart on Friday 16 January 2009, a rail service will be provided between Penrose Station and Britomart (via Newmarket South) throughout the day.
