Call to an Unconscious Person in Wairarapa

Wellington Westpac Rescue Helicopter called to an Unconscious Person at Flat Point in Wairarapa


The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called this evening
Monday 5th Jan 09 at 6:00pm to a 60yr old male from the UK who was not
breathing. He was at Flat Point Beach in the Wairarapa. The man had been
diving and when he got to the surface he had stopped breathing. Other local
divers dragged him onto the beach and started CPR.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the scene with Two Wellington
Free Paramedics onboard. The helicopter was able to land a short distance
from where the patient was.

On the arrival of the Paramedics the patient was found to be conscious and
able to communicate with the paramedics. He was loaded onto the Helicopter
stretcher and transported back to the Wellington Hospital Emergency
Department where he is being assessed
