Motorised recreation safety day on Muriwai Beach
Public information day to promote motorised recreation safety on Muriwai Beach
7 January 2009
Come to Muriwai Beach (between the Coast Road beach access point and the Okiriototo stream) this Sunday 11 January between 12 and 6pm to find out more about what you can do to promote safety and minimise your environmental impact on Muriwai Beach and Te Oneone Rangatira Beach.
Representatives from the Auckland Regional Council, Rodney District Council, NZ Police, the Department of Conservation, Ngati Whatua Nga Rima o Kaipara, the Otakanini Topu Trust, First response, Civil Defence, the Fire Service and ACC will be on hand to:
• Offer advice on safe driving and riding.
• Show
you the places you can enter and exit the beach and where
you can and can’t drive or ride.
• Give a run down of
the road rules that apply once on the beach and information
on the new beach speed limits which came into effect late
last year.
• Help you discover the rich biodiversity to
be found on this special beach; the sand dunes and the
unique wildlife that they are home to.
• Show how you
can help make the beach safer, answer any questions and
listen to your thoughts or concerns.
Together the above agencies have been working to promote the safe and appropriate use of the region’s beaches. This information day is part of their campaign.
