Zoo offers adventurous night in
Africa
Aucklanders can take an adventure through Africa without leaving town on Sunday 22 March by getting along to Auckland Zoo’s exclusive Africa Night.
This summer evening event (4.30pm – 9.00pm) offers guests the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes to get up close to some of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife, including lions, hippos, rhinos, and giraffe.
A fundraiser for the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund, the night is also a chance to take part in an auction and bid for some unique and affordable items, before sitting down to a sumptuous African-themed dinner in the zoo’s Old Elephant House.
Transporting guests further into Africa will be professional wildlife photographer and African safari tour guide Claire Vial, who will talk on her adventures across this incredible continent and give a special slideshow presentation.
All profits from the evening, organised by the Auckland Zoological Society, will go to the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund, which supports a range of local and overseas conservation projects for endangered wildlife. Among projects the fund supports are ‘Ark in the Park’ (a Waitakere Ranges restoration project), native frog recovery, 21st Century Tiger for the Sumatran tiger, Cheetah Outreach (South Africa), and the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Project.
Tickets to Africa Night cost $80 per person (plus a $2 transaction fee). Your ticket includes one complimentary drink. A cash bar will also operate.
Bookings can be made at www.aucklandzoo.co.nz or by phoning the zoo’s Information Centre on (09) 360 3805. Advance booking recommended.
Tickets available for pick-up from Tuesday 10 March, or can be collected just prior to the event.
