Highway Boost - Action Focus Applauded
The Auckland Business Forum said before the Election it wanted increased action from the new Government to lift the momentum on completing Auckland’s core transport network, “and that’s exactly what’s being delivered,” said Forum chairman Michael Barnett.
The $1 billion boost to the State Highway Programme, including advancing construction of the Victoria Park viaduct upgrade, will help address a major bottleneck in Auckland daily transport woes.
Just as important, the projects announced today will give the construction industry and large workforce confidence going forward.
“The package is broad-based. The offset of the 10c Auckland regional petrol tax with a 6c fuel tax across the country is reflected in a package of projects that will help boost the whole country, not just Auckland,” he noted.
