Free Ranger Walk and Talk tours

Manukau City Council Parks is offering residents the chance to experience some of the city’s most beautiful autumn landscapes with free Ranger Walk and Talk tours. There are two tours in April.

Take in the magnificent vistas of the Mangemangeroa Valley on Thursday, 2 April. Explore the natural forest landscape and estuary of this beautiful diverse reserve situated at the edge of urban Manukau.

Along the way walkers will learn about the native plants, birds and insects in the reserve as well as the area’s heritage. An average level of fitness and mobility is required. There is a free bus provided from the end of the walk back to the start.

Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the fascinating and unique Otuataua Stonefields Historic Reserve on Friday, 17 April.  The reserve is a cultural, archaeological and natural treasure, one that is enjoyed by visitors from all over New Zealand and overseas. A good level of fitness and mobility are required.

Parks Ranger Education Anna Baine says “This is a wonderful way for people to learn about Manukau’s cultural heritage, while increasing their understanding of ecosystems and developing an awareness of the environmental issues facing these areas.”
