Have your say about RDC’s website

Rodney District Council is keen to get its residents and ratepayers’ views on what they think of the council’s website – www.rodney.govt.nz – to help improve its community engagement and lift its communications.

“Customer feedback has highlighted that improvements are needed in the way Rodney District Council currently informs, consults and engages local residents in its decision-making processes,” says  RDC research manager Carol Hayward.

“One of the most cost-effective ways for us to do this is through our website, as well as email-based communications and by tapping into existing online community forums and networks.”

One of the first small steps Council has made towards this is its new ‘Have your say’ www.rodney.govt.nz/haveyoursay page on the council’s website. This innovation also includes the ability for people to complete online surveys.

“RDC is also starting to use social media tools, such as Facebook, Bebo and Twitter, to better communicate with our residents. And we are also about to introduce email newsletters,” Ms Hayward added.

While consultation was carried out last year, before the council’s website was re-launched, it is well aware that there are still many improvements needed.

“What do you think of the website? How easily can you find information? What other improvements would you like to see?” Carol Hayward adds. ”Please give us your views and help us make sure that we focus on the issues that matter the most to you.”
