ARC welcomes progress on Queens Wharf

ARC Chairman Mike Lee said today he was encouraged by the progress being made to open Queens Wharf to the public.
“We are working very hard with the Government and Ports of Auckland to ensure Queens Wharf can play a pivotal role in the Rugby World Cup, and as a premier cruise ship terminal,” said Mr Lee.
“There is still some work to be done and negotiations are ongoing. I am confident that negotiations will be concluded very soon for the people of Auckland.
“Queens Wharf has the potential to be a tremendous asset for Auckland, starting with a public venue to enjoy the Rugby World Cup in 2011.
“But the real potential is the opportunity to transform the wharf into a cruise ship terminal that Auckland and indeed New Zealand can be proud of.
“This will ensure that New Zealand is firmly on the map for the international cruise ship industry, and that Auckland and the country can continue to enjoy the downstream economic benefits that the industry brings.”
