Route changes to Bay Hopper buses
Route changes to Bay Hopper buses
Environment Bay of Plenty launched the new Bay Hopper service under their new Tauranga urban bus contract with Go Bus Transport on 29 June.
New routes were introduced with the new contract and some of these have had adjustments made to them that will take effect from Saturday 11 July.
Updated timetables and notices at key locations will also accompany the route changes to keep passengers informed.
Environment Bay of Plenty Land Transport Manager Garry Maloney said that a lot of research and planning went into the new route structure.
“After two weeks of running the new services we’ve had the opportunity to see what works well and what areas need some tweaking. The vast majority of routes are working well but some are experiencing problems keeping to timetables.
“We’re confident that the changes will improve travelling for a greater number of passengers,” Mr Maloney said.
The following route changes will be in place from Saturday 11 July 2009.
• Route 59 will now travel
via Cameron Road – Pyes Pa Road – Cheyne Road – Oropi
Road (turn at Oropi Rd/SH29 roundabout) then return Oropi
Road – Cheyne Road – Pyes Pa Road – Cameron Road on
all trips.
• Route 1 is to extend to Inverness Road
every trip except the 10:35am from Tauranga which will
extend further to Pyes Pa cemetery and return on the
12:15pm. This is a seven days a week service.
• Route
55 will now have an additional weekday morning service
departing from Ohauiti at 7:45am arriving at Wharf Street
at 8:20am. This is a Monday to Friday trip only.
• Route 70 at 7:15am from Kings Avenue will now loop
around Matua (Waratah Road, Tilby Drive, Woods Avenue etc)
before it gets to Kings Avenue, seven days a week.
Along with new routes, a fleet of 35 low-floor buses and a simpler fare structure have also been introduced to the Tauranga urban services making travelling easier for passengers
