Spark t-shirt competition winner announced

Spark t-shirt competition winner announced

After much debate, the winner of the competition to design the official Spark t-shirt has been decided.

Entrants were asked to design the official Spark t-shirt, inspired by the phrase ‘the art of necessity’. Spark organisers would like to thank entrants for all the great entries received this year – a mighty 500% increase on 2008’s competition. There was a truly national response this time round, with images coming in from all over the country.

Judges initially selected a shortlist of 6 finalists from the entrants – well done to Samarah Wilson, Lucy Adams, Verdict, Bronson Yandall, Glen Leslie and Amrita Sahay.

But there can be only one winner, and this year the prize goes to Glen Leslie. Congratulations Glen! Glen is a member of the Underwater Collective, who currently have an exhibition running in Ramp Gallery.

Spark Project Manager Susanna Wilford said Glen’s entry appealed for its inventive concept and execution. “The bizarre plant/creature emerging in all directions from a dry pot offers an entertaining take on how Spark and art in general can enrich our environment, and the artwork is quirky and dynamic. I’m sure a lot of people will want to wear this shirt.”

The t-shirts featuring Glen’s design will be available for sale from Monday 27th July , the week before Spark begins, and images will be available on this site as soon as the shirts are printed.
