Welcome Benjamen Bayley, New Chef Arrives

Welcome Benjamen Bayley
New Chef Arrives

In what some would call a serendipitous move and what others would just call a coincidence, The Grove has appointed a new chef with name alliteration just like the two previous chefs before him.

Michael Meredith, Sid Sarhawat and now introducing Benjamen Bayley.

Sid has recently announced his departure after two stellar years where he received Lewisham Awards for Outstanding Chef in 2007 and 2008. He has built a reputation that has foodies palates quivering at the mere mention of his name. But is time for him to make the move to fulfil personal challenges (to be announced shortly). And into his very big shoes, steps Benjamen Bayley.

Benjamen has already experienced an illustrious career, most recently working with Peter Thornley at the new Kermadec and prior to that senior chef roles at Michelin starred restaurants in London and France (The Ledbury & The Square, London: Restaurant Jean-Paul Jennet, France).

Michael Dearth, owner of The Grove comments, “Benjamen is the perfect candidate for the role of head chef. He is young, hungry and has enough experience to give him the confidence to not only carry on the strong tradition of delivering incredible food left by the chefs before him, but to deliver his own unique signature to the menus. We are all looking forward to working together as a team to continue our some kind of wonderful. Sid will always be a part of our family and we look forward to his continued successes in coming years.”

Benjamen will take his place early September.

The Grove is located in Saint Patricks Square, Wyndham Street, Auckland Central. To make a reservation, please call 09 368 4129. Bookings are advised.
