Get a surprise at Puke Ariki!

Get a surprise at Puke Ariki!

Escape, Explore, Discover is the theme for this year’s Library Week (10-16 August) and that’s exactly what you can do at Puke Ariki.

To celebrate Library Week, Puke Ariki members will have the chance to pick up a lucky dip bundle of books from Puke Ariki and the district libraries in Waitara, Inglewood, Bell Block, Oakura and Urenui.

“We’ve picked a range of books from through-out the library for each lucky dip bundle,” says Puke Ariki Manager Service Delivery, Dale Cousens.

“Libraries enable you to escape into another world so with a lucky dip you never know what you’ll discover!

“And for every lucky bundle you get out from Puke Ariki you will also go in the draw to win a new book – another great reason to get down to the library during Library Week.”

Puke Ariki and district libraries will also be participating in New Zealand’s Biggest Storytime. This will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday 12 August where libraries across the country will be taking part in a simultaneous reading.

Children, parents, teachers and friends are invited along to their nearest library to enjoy Itiiti’s Gift by Melanie Drewery. Itiiti's Gift is a story about a girl who feels small and clumsy and shy next to her big, jumbly family who are all loud and tall and good at things. When her mum tells Itiiti that she has her own gift, Itiiti sets out to find it. To her surprise, her gift finds her!

Library Week (10-16 August) is a week long celebration of libraries and librarianship in New Zealand taking place in public, school, tertiary, special, law and government libraries across New Zealand.
