All inclusive “Fitness Pass” announced

The “Fitness Pass” released today by Lakes Leisure is an all encompassing pass designed to increase people’s fitness and recreation options. It includes access to the Alpine Health and Fitness Centre, Lakes Leisure fitness classes, Alpine Aqualand and other aquatic facilities in the district and all other Queenstown Events Centre facilities on an as available basis.

The pass is designed to increase opportunities for people to broaden their health and fitness activities at any level.

Lakes Leisure CEO Fiona McKissock said the pass offered a service not available elsewhere in the district.

“We are delighted to be so close to delivering the integrated events, health and fitness and pool centre that started with a special community consultation process in December 2004. The Fitness Pass is an all inclusive membership that allows members to take their fitness activities beyond the walls of the health and fitness centre. People can use the pools, attend a class, get outside for a run around the field or use the courts – indoor and outdoor – as long as they are available and not booked for some other activity.”

All ages and stages are included in the membership packages with special prices for Community Services and SuperGold Card holders and there are payment options allowing members to pay their fees by weekly, fortnightly or three-monthly Direct Debit. A pre opening special offers annual membership at $750 and 6 month membership at $475 (cash prices). After that, annual membership is priced at $849 up front and from $19.95 weekly.

“Our emphasis is on making fitness and leisure as accessible as possible for the widest range of community members. We are an integrated facility which means that we need flexibility in terms of timetables and opening hours to ensure delivery of fantastic events such as one day cricket, Golden Oldies Netball and the Shotover Jet Remarkable Christmas Spectacular. Our price reflects this.” says Ms McKissock.

Casual users are very welcome at $15 per visit and there are concession passes for those not ready to commit to a full membership. Corporate packages are also included to promote healthy work places.
Alpine Health and Fitness Manager Richie Heap said he was pleased to announce prices and be one step closer to the opening of the health and fitness centre.

“Our ultimate goal is to increase participation in sport, recreation and fitness activities throughout the community. As a community-owned facility, it’s important that we remain accessible to our shareholders - the entire Wakatipu community and we think this structure addresses this as fairly as possible”

A stand alone Alpine Health and Fitness Centre membership will not be available but the pool only memberships will remain. There are no joining fees.

The Alpine Health and Fitness Centre is scheduled to open on 24th October.
