ASB Community Trust to meet Northland grant applicants

The ASB Community Trust which makes grants to not-for-profit groups throughout the Northland and Auckland regions recently announced a $23.7 million grants budget for this year and is now assessing applications for funding.

Northland community organisations are urged to attend a public meeting in Kerikeri on Saturday, 5 September, 1pm-3pm at The Centre, 43 Cobham Rd, Kerikeri where they will be able to discuss funding priorities, new policies, and other important topics with Trustees and senior staff members. An interpreter for the hearing impaired and deaf will be on duty.

Trust Chair Kevin Prime, who is from Motatau near Kawakawa, will present the annual financial results and outline the role of Trustees in decision-making. CEO Jennifer Gill will give an overview of the Trust’s plans and priorities for the next 2-3 years and Grants Team Manager Karyn McLeod will detail how new policies will affect grant decisions.

A team of grants advisors will run a funding workshop from 2pm-3pm to discuss potential projects and give advice on how not-for-profit groups can get support, and Trustees will be available to speak one-on-one with community group representatives.

ASB Community Trust is an independent grant-making organisation serving the Auckland and Northland communities. With funding from its investment income, the Trust will this financial year (to March 31, 2010) grant $23.7 million to not-for-profit groups in the region.
Incorporated societies or registered charitable trusts can apply for funds, provided they are a not-for-profit organisation working for community good. Any incorporated or charitable trust in Auckland and Northland can apply for funds, provided they are a not-for-profit organisation.
The Trust receives strong support from ASB Bank Limited. The bank continues its tradition of support to Auckland and Northland local communities, and has committed $10 million over the next 5 years to assist the operations of its previous owner, the ASB Community Trust.
