Emergency Repairs Required For Water Supply

MEDIA RELEASE

Emergency Repairs Required For Water Supply

Manukau City (19 August 2009) – A localised water outage will effect 400-500 customers in part of the Manukau Water Limited water network tonight, as the company makes an emergency repair to a water main.

A water main servicing customers in Goodwood Heights, Totara Heights and the top end of Redoubt Road was damaged today by a contractor working on a roading project. While Manukau Water Limited has been able to maintain supply through the day, the emergency repair will need to be made from approximately 10 p.m. tonight. The repair will take 2-3 hours and will result in some customers being without water.

Any customers of Manukau Water Limited in this area who have specific concerns about the outage can call the company on 09 265 4488.

When the service is restored, customers are urged to check their taps are flowing clearly before using the water. If there is a discolouration, the tap should be run until it is flowing clearly. Any discoloured water should not be used for drinking.

The company will update on its website any further news on this outage.
