Children can hook a Snapper too!

Children are now able to Snapper their bus fares on Go Wellington buses. Children require a different Snapper to receive child fares. To make it easy for children to obtain a Snapper, a special stand has been set up at Reading Cinema, Courtenay Central this weekend.

Mr Kenyon says he expects the move to pay for your bus fare by using Snapper will make bus travel for children easier. “By ‘snappering’ their bus fare, children attending school full-time automatically receive a 20 per cent discount off the cash price of a single child fare. Also, with the ability to register your Snapper online, there is greater security as registered Snappers can be hotlisted to protect the value on them if they are lost.”

“A number of Children in the Wellington region currently pay for their bus fare using ten trip tickets; these will no longer be sold from the start of Term 4. Children wishing to transfer to Snapper will need to make sure they purchase the appropriate Snapper for their age group,” says Mr. Kenyon. “Years 1-8 have green Snapper child cards. Secondary school students (years 9-13) need a personalised Snapper to access child fares.”

To make it easy for secondary school students to obtain their personalised red Snapper, a special Snapper stand has been set up this weekend at Reading Cinema, Courtney Central, Ground Floor, 100 Courtney Place, Wellington. The hours of operation are Thursday 27 Aug and Friday 28 Aug: 12noon – 7pm and Saturday 29 Aug and Sunday 30 Aug: 10am – 5pm.

Secondary school children will need to complete an application form and provide proof of their date of birth. If they are 16 years of age or older they will also need to provide proof of enrolment at a secondary school. Green Snappers for primary school students can be purchased from Snapper retailers throughout the Wellington region, they can also be purchased from the Snapper stand at Courtney Central this weekend.

After this weekend, red personalised Snappers for children in Years 9 – 13 can be obtained from the Snapper office, Level 3, 40 Johnston Street, Wellington.
