Halberg Trust Appoints New Ceo
The Halberg Trust has appointed Steve Hall, previously head of the Outward Bound school in Anakiwa, to the position of Chief Executive.
Hr Hall, who has considerable experience in sport, not-for-profit and community service, replaces Graeme Taylor who left last month.
Named by the Sir Peter Blake Trust in 2007 as one of its six Emerging Leaders, Mr Hall spent eight years in Anakiwa where he led a significant change in the focus and operation of the school. Married, with three boys and the eldest about to start college, he left Outward Bound earlier this year, seeking an opportunity where education opportunities were more plentiful.
He takes up his new role with the Halberg Trust towards the end of September “very excited to be leading such an iconic New Zealand organisation which is already making such a difference as a leader in the disability sector”. He says his years at Outward Bound “helped him develop an empathy and understanding for an organisation like the Halberg Trust and I really believe in the work they do”.
“I am very excited. It is a big challenge personally, but at the same time an amazing opportunity.”
Halberg Trust chairman Mike Jeffcoat says around 70 applications were received to fill the position. “Steve stood out amongst some outstanding candidates, and we are confident that we have found a Chief Executive with great energy, vision, and above all the skills to not only continue the work we do but also to take us to where we need to be with both of our primary objectives.”
Mr Jeffcoat will continue in his care-taker role as interim CEO of the Halberg Trust until Mr Hall, currently based in Queenstown, is settled in Auckland.
