Joyce Gets Thumbs Up From CityLink
Coming hard on the heels of his inspired policy initiatives around rural broadband, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Stephen Joyce has again hit all the right buttons with todays announced roll out of ultra-fast broadband to 75% of New Zealanders, CityLink Chairman David Ware says.
“We have been waiting for a government with vision and Joyce has yet again shown he can make the hard calls and develop good policy that underpins critical infrastructure. “
“We know that this sort of vision is critical to growth, as it’s the same thinking that underpinned CityLink’s establishment 15 years ago. It was all about open access then, and today’s announcement is all about a wholesale focused model with strong community involvement. It’s almost as if the Minister has replicated CityLink’s DNA.”
CityLink looks forward to working with other parties in the Wellington region and submitting a bid that will give wings to the Ministers strategy, concludes David.
