New library catalogue offers more services 24/7

NEWS RELEASE
from the Hutt City Council

18 September 2009

New library catalogue offers more services 24/7

Hutt City libraries’ new online catalogue is a 24/7 one-stop-shop where you can browse for your next great read, access your account, place reserves and suggest new purchases from wherever you are.

“We’re making it easier for customers to interact with staff online,” says libraries manager Sandra Mann, “and also share their thoughts about library items or what the library can purchase.”

Customers can share favourite reads by writing reviews of their favourite books.

“When we visit a bookshop many of us act on others recommendations so we’re including another way of searching for a great read or movie to watch.

“By taking a couple of minutes to set up a PIN, library customers will be able to send requests for information, inter-library loans and check progress of requests.”

Customers can continue to check their account and due dates, renew, update personal details and reserve items.

The new catalogue goes live Tuesday 22 September.
