Fundraiser fantastic opportunity to visit stylish Jacks Point

An afternoon’s family entertainment culminating in a glamorous gala is to take place at Jacks Point on Saturday October 10 to raise funds for Wakatipu High School.

A fundraising team event includes golf, tennis, run and cycle for teams of two adults and two children.  Entry costs $40 per team and concludes with a prize giving and sausage sizzle.  Spectators and supporters are welcome at no cost.

From 7.30 pm, the action moves to the stylish Club House for canapés, desserts, live music and a cash bar followed by an auction and dancing.

PTA spokesperson Jan Maxwell says the $50 ticket price offers fantastic value for a social evening out and that an amazing array of auction items is up for grabs.

“We have everything from Air New Zealand flights to gold jewelry from the Gold Shop in Arrowtown.  Local businesses have been extremely generous once again in supporting this event.  And there’s our usual array of fun items.  This is our major fundraising event and we are looking for local support to help us raise the funds we need to provide a high level of educational facilities for local children.”

Wakatipu High School is a decile 10 school which means it receives the minimum ministry funding and needs to find its own funding opportunities.
“This means we need to provide funds for extras like computers and equipment that just can’t be funded out of our operations budget.  While this presents a massive challenge for the PTA each year, Queenstowners are generous with their participation in charity events.  The support is wonderful. This fundraiser is now in its second year. Last year we raised over $17,000 and we’re hoping to exceed that figure this year.”
