Mayoral Fund $20k available for youth projects

25 September 2009

Mayoral Youth Fund makes $20,000 available for youth projects

Applications are invited from North Shore individuals, groups and organisations needing funding to support youth projects aimed at developing leadership and fostering talent in young people on the North Shore.

“The Mayoral Youth Fund is providing up to $20,000 from the money raised at this year’s annual Mayoral Cup Charity Golf Tournament to be shared between the successful applicants for youth projects on the North Shore,” North Shore Mayor Andrew Williams said today.

“The golf tournament was a great success thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the business community and sponsors, the Korean community, and the hard work of the North Shore Youth Council and YouthBank, so it is only fitting that the youth of ‘the Shore’ get the benefit.”

The Mayoral Youth Fund will be distributed to applicants meeting assessment guidelines based on:

* the involvement of young people in the project,
* opportunities provided by the project,
* youth benefit from the project,
* collaborative partnerships,
* and the positive impact on the North Shore community

The Mayoral Youth Fund has been established by North Shore Mayor Andrew Williams to support new and existing projects that benefit the youth of the North Shore.

Funding applications, guidelines and further information are available from lorraine.dale@northshorecity.govt.nz or phone 09 486 8564.
