Teens set to get their game faces on
In a New Zealand first for libraries these school holidays Hutt City Libraries is providing an opportunity for all teens to get their game faces on in a Playstation3 gaming tournament.
“Teens recently told us to continue to keep adding books, movies and magazines as well as providing comfortable spaces to use them around others,” says libraries manager Sandra Mann.
“As technology and time constraints compete for future adult readers we‘re showing teens that the library is here and it's relevant. Games and graphic novels certainly provide an alternative to mainstream reading.”
This tournament is another way for teens to access our collections for those who may not have a PS3 at home.
“A key area of focus for us is to bring our collections to life and enable everyone to access them.”
Tournament participants can win a Playstation3, Apple iPod or a Playstation Portable and lots of other spot prizes.
The tournament will be held on Friday 9 October from 5.30pm at the War Memorial Library.
Spaces are limited for teens aged 13 – 18 years and entry forms are available at any Hutt City library.
