Recognising a Great Worker

Recognising a Great Worker

22 October 2009

Downtown Community Ministry stalwart and passionate supporter Patricia Booth was recognised yesterday with a Pride of Workmanship award from the South Wellington Rotary.

Pat is nearing 20 years of service at DCM as Treasurer. Her involvement with DCM began way back in 1976 as convenor of the then ICM Refugee Resettlement Committee.

Nominated by DCM Director Stephanie McIntyre, the award recognises, “Pat’s commitment to upholding the vision and values of the organisation and her ongoing demonstration of high quality work”.

Pat says, “I believe that the contribution I make to the infrastructure of DCM, including being an obsessive proof-reader, makes possible the practical and important work our frontline staff carry out”.

Five other recipients were recognised at the awards ceremony including Wayne Riggs, a volunteer at the Sisters of Compassion Soup Kitchen. He was also a member of the Street Football Aotearoa team that travelled to Melbourne last year for the Homeless World Cup.

DCM also wishes to thank the South Wellington Rotary for their generous donation of books in the lead up to the Book Fair this year.
