GO Wellington gets into the festival spirit
Three striking new-look buses will take to the streets of Wellington today as part of GO Wellington’s sponsorship of the International Festival of the Arts.
“GO Wellington is proud to be a silver sponsor of the Festival of Arts,” says Bruce Kenyon, General Manager of GO Wellington. “We have been involved with the festival for many years now and do so because it is a fantastic event, which helps makes Wellington such a dynamic city to live in and visit.”
“The festival also provides an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work alongside renowned international acts and we are delighted to be able to support the Wellington artistic community through this important community event,” continues Mr. Kenyon.
“The new buses are eye-catching and provide a great way to get the word out there about the festival and get the community excited about the up-coming calendar of events,” says Mr Kenyon. “Also, with festival events being held all around Wellington, buses will play an important role in transporting people to and from them, allowing them to avoid any parking and congestion problems.”
As part of its support for the Festival, GO Wellington is also sponsoring a free outdoor show performed by the Transports Exceptionnels. (http://www.nzfestival.nzpost.co.nz/dance/transports-exceptionnels)
The show, which has captivated both old and young audiences worldwide, features a dancer and a mechanical shovel performing choreographed dance routines that will be sure to surprise and electrify the audience.
“Supporting an event that was free to the public was important to Go Wellington,” says Mr Kenyon. “We want all Wellingtonians to bring along their families and friends to enjoy the spectacle that is the festival.”
The New Zealand International Festival of Arts is held every two years in Wellington and celebrates the best arts entertainment from around the world and within New Zealand.
The official launch of the festival was held yesterday at TSB Bank Arena, Queens Wharf and the buses will hit the streets today.
The festival then kicks off on the 26 February and runs through to 21 March. The buses will travel the streets of Wellington from November until March to promote the event and help build excitement.
