Music for Peace in the Heart of Auckland
AUCKLAND, NZ, 03 Dec 2009 - On Thursday, 3rd Dec, the Juice Bar (144 Parnell Rd, Parnell) is playing host to a charity concert, aptly entitled “Music for Peace”, where 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Women’s Refuge.
Between 9am and 12am concert goers will enjoy a variety of musical acts; with Soul Satellites and two other guest bands; including a DJ, all of whom have donated their time and music in support of the cause.
The concert, which coincides with the annual Women’s Refuge Appeal Month, is organized by a group of friends wanting to spread the message of Peace. “Our goal is to raise at least $2,000 to help stop violence in NZ” says Alcíone Fagundes dos Santos, one of the event organizers.
Women’s Refuge helps over 28,000 NZ women and children affected by domestic violence every year. Some of the free services provided by the refuge include a 24 hour crisis phone line, 24 hour emergency accommodation and training for families, professionals and community groups.
In addition to enjoying live music, those
attending will be able to get more information about
Women’s Refuge and how to ask for help if they, or someone
they know, are in an abusive family situation.
