Focus on Flowers

Focus on Flowers

Focus your camera on flowers this festive season and be in with a chance to exhibit at next year’s Ellerslie International Flower Show.

All New Zealanders are being invited to enter The Great Ellerslie Photo Competition, being presented in 2010 by The Fusion Trust.

Carolyn Green of The Fusion Trust says next year’s The Great Ellerslie Photo Competition is all about encouraging photographers to “think outside the square” with their images.

“We want people to use flowers as a theme and show some flair and imagination in the way they capture images of flowers.

“The theme Focus on Flowers includes everything relating to flowers, from flowers in the garden to those at such events as ANZAC Day and weddings, in cemeteries, worn in the hair and used in children’s play, like the making of daisy chains. “

Entries close on Friday 12 February 2010 and the best photographs received and the winners will be displayed for five days at next year’s Ellerslie International Flower Show in North Hagley Park from 10 to 14 March. The images will be seen by thousands of national and international visitors to the event.

Entries will be judged in two categories – under 18 years and open. There are some great prizes, including a $500 digital camera from Photo & Video International. Check out the competition details on the websites www.ellerslieflowershow.co.nz or www.fusiontrust.co.nz

Ellerslie International Flower Show Managing Director Dave Mee says The Great Ellerslie Photo Competition is just another way Ellerslie celebrates flowers.

“We have many extremely talented amateur and professional photographers in New Zealand and this competition enables them to capture images which highlight this country’s love of gardening and flowers.”
