Former North Shore City Works Depot Sold
The former North Shore City Council works depot in Paul Matthews Road in Rosedale has been sold to the highest bidder, North Shore City Council Chief Executive John Brockies said today.
“The Council has accepted an $11.4 million offer from Atlas Concrete Limited for the 3.8 hectare site located at the corner of Bush Road and Paul Matthews Road in Rosedale, the site of the former Council works depot,” Mr Brockies said.
Mr Brockies said the property was well marketed by respected commercial property agents CB Richard Ellis, the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm, and that there was keen interest in the property.
“Several offers were received at the close of tenders and once due process had been completed under the guidance of council legal advisors Simpson Grierson, the superior Atlas Concrete offer was accepted, concluding the sale,” Mr Brockies said.
Mr Brockies said that the Council had earlier decided to apply funds from the proceeds of the sale to more relevant community assets, and discussions with the Auckland Transition Agency are continuing in relation to these community projects in order to secure the necessary approvals.
Techscape, a combined North Shore and Waitakere City Councils works and maintenance enterprise, was run from the site until the business was sold to private contractors in 2006. Since then, the land has been leased to private businesses.
