Council contributes funding to Baring Head bid
Hutt City Council last night unanimously agreed to contribute $200,000 to support the Regional Council tender for the property at Baring Head.
Mayor David Ogden says that Hutt City Council considers the bid for the land to be primarily a regional council responsibility. However, there has been significant public interest in having the land in public ownership and Hutt City Council wants to support this to happen.
The funding will come from Council’s 2010/11 budget and Council will remain within its debt targets.
Mayor Ogden says the Regional Council will be responsible for the ongoing management and maintenance of the land if the tender is successful.
