Predicament to Premier in Hawera
Predicament to Premier in Hawera
It’s official, Hawera has secured the New Zealand premier for Predicament!
South Taranaki district mayor Ross Dunlop announced today that the Council and Predicament producer Sue Rogers had successfully negotiated with the movie’s distributor to stage the New Zealand premier in Hawera, just days before its national release.
“I’m absolutely thrilled with the result,” says South Taranaki mayor, Ross Dunlop. “The movie which was filmed in South Taranaki and based on the book written by one of New Zealand’s most acclaimed authors, Hawera local Ronald Hugh Morrieson, will now have its national release in Hawera,” he says.
“This is a further example of what a good decision it was for the Council and the community to get in behind and support the movie. I can’t wait to see the premier and spot all the South Taranaki locations and local talent on the big screen,” says Mr Dunlop.
Producer Sue Rogers said “We were made to feel very welcome by the people of South Taranaki and I couldn’t be more delighted that Predicament’s New Zealand release will be launched at a premiere in Hawera”.
Mayor Dunlop also welcomed the news announced last week that Predicament had been selected to open the New Zealand International Film Festival in Wellington on 16 July and close it in Auckland on 25 July. “This is a real coup for the movie. It will add to its prestige and raise its profile considerably,” he says.
Council’s group manager of Community Services and Development Jan Martin will be meeting with her events manager and the Cinema management to make plans for the big night. While a time and date for the premier is yet to be finalised it will take place before 26th August when the film is released nationwide.
