Northlanders’ chance to be part of Rugby World
Cup 2011
The Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) volunteer roadshow hits Northland next week - and you’re invited along.
The roadshow will provide information on what being a RWC 2011 volunteer involves, the various roles available and how to register.
“This is the public’s chance to join the team that is delivering Rugby World Cup 2011,” says Northland 2011 Regional Co-ordinator Stewart McElwain.
“We’re keen for people from around Northland to put their hand up to be involved, from roles at the Northland Events Centre, to hosting by helping the thousands of visitors who will be coming here for the matches and for a holiday” Mr McElwain says.
The roadshow will be held in Whangarei on Monday 5 July at the Northland Events Centre, and Kerikeri on Tuesday 6 July at the Kerikeri Sports Complex – from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at both venues.
RWC 2011 is looking for a range of people who are enthusiastic, dedicated and committed to serving and hosting the Tournament’s visitors. Volunteers will receive training to enhance their skills and abilities, as well as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be involved in this fantastic international event.
Northland Events Centre will host two RWC 2011 matches: Tonga vs Canada and Tonga vs Japan. As well as providing a venue for the two matches, Northland will also host Canada, Tonga and Japan for a total of 28 days during RWC 2011 pool play as they train and stay in both the Bay of Islands and Whangarei.
