Property information at your fingertips

Property information at your fingertips

Searching for property information at Hutt City Council has just got easier – and cheaper. Decades of property records previously held on microfiche can now be viewed on computers located at council’s main reception on Laings Road. This includes building consent information such as site and floor plans, code compliance certificates, and historical building permits. Transferring the files has taken council staff several months, but environmental consents manager Helen Oram says the work has been worth it. “Customers no longer have to trawl through records on a microfiche reader, but can instead go on the computers and get the information they need in seconds. “Moving away from microfiche which use to cost customers $20 to view has also enabled council to offer the new computer service free of charge, excluding printing costs. “We are pleased to be able to provide this service to our customers and believe they will find it more user-friendly,” says Ms Oram.
