Snug Homes on Offer to Papakura Residents

Snug Homes on Offer to Papakura Residents

Papakura residents and people living in the wider Counties Manukau area can apply for a free home insulation package through the regional Snug Homes programme.

Confirmation of funding for the programme will make more than 100 homes in the area warmer and drier for the coming winter.

To “winter-proof” homes for home –owners or tenants who qualify, Snug Homes offers ceiling insulation, underfloor insulation, hot water cylinder covers, draught seals around two exterior doors and a free home health visit from a qualified nurse.

Home-owners or tenants need to be residents of the Counties-Manukau area to qualify, with a house built before 2000 when building insulation regulations were revised. They need to be holders of a Community Services Card, with priority being given to homes where children under 14 or older adults are living.

Installation is carried out by approved installer Eco Insulation.

Snug Homes is supported by EECA and is a joint initiative between the Manukau and Papakura councils, Counties Manukau District Health Board, with the ASB Community Trust providing funding support.

Auckland District Health Board, the ProCare health network and the Starship Foundation are also partners.

Brochures and application forms are available from Papakura District Council in Coles Crescent, Papakura; from the Sir Edmund Hillary Library in the town centre; from the Papakura Citizens Advice Bureau; doctors’ surgeries; the RSA and Work and Income. Eco Insulation can be contacted on 09 914 1684.
