Citizens & Ratepayers' Candidates Blend Experience And Diversity
Citizens and Ratepayers has announced a further mix of experienced and capable candidates for the upcoming Auckland Council elections.
President John Slater said today’s additions would add depth and regional diversity to an already strong team.
“Former three-term North Shore Mayor George Wood will be our Auckland Council candidate for the North Shore ward.
“Five-term Manukau City Councillor Bob Wichman will be our candidate for the Manukau ward.
“In the Waitemata and Gulf ward, C & R is endorsing Heart of the City CEO and Independent candidate Alex Sweeney for the Auckland Council. In return, Mr Sweeney will campaign in support of the C & R Waitemata Local Board team.
“We have carefully considered the qualities needed for Auckland Council candidates. We have chosen people with a track record of delivering for the people in their communities, institutional knowledge and experience in local government and a real ability to engage with the complex challenges ahead.
“Our candidates come from very different backgrounds, and will have different ideas to bring to the Auckland Council table. But they share a Citizens & Ratepayers vision around strengthening our vibrant communities, providing positive and effective leadership for the challenges facing us, and of creating an affordable region to live and work in.
“We have selected talented people with the necessary experience, wisdom and ability to make the strategic and spatial planning decisions so crucial for a successful outcome in the future for Auckland.
