Councillor Jo Coughlan To Stand Again For
Onslow/Western Ward
Onslow Western Ward Councillor Jo Coughlan is standing for the 2010 local elections. If successful, this will be her second term representing the Ward.
“I am delighted to be standing to represent the Onslow/Western Ward for another three years; there are so many exciting things to achieve for the city,” Jo said.
“Our fantastic city and all it offers – the beautiful harbour; vibrant, compact CBD; accessible town-belt; world-class stadium; heritage; Parliament; thriving arts and cultural scene; growing regional food and wine industry and strong sense of community – is unique.”
Jo is future-focused, and believes great career opportunities and quality of life is what matters for families.
“I will continue to work positively with council, businesses, and the community to ensure Wellington continues to be a great place to live, work and visit,” she said.
“We must continue to step-up; consider a purpose-built conference facility, and develop other world-class events and attractions.”
Jo believes Wellington’s sporting facilities need improvement.
“We need a fit-for-purpose aquatic centre and more all-weather turfs are required,” she said.
“We need to support businesses and create more jobs. Wellington must be technologically leading-edge, easy to access internationally and environmentally conscious.”
“Our city must progress but in a way that delivers value-for-money services and uses rate-payers money wisely."
Jo lives in Wadestown and is a married mother of six. She is the director of her own communications and public relations agency and a board member of Life Education Trust, Positively Wellington Tourism and The Carter Observatory.
