Time Running Out to Apply for Transformational Leadership
Journey
(Auckland, New
Zealand)---Leadership New Zealand’s application
deadline of 15th September for the 2011 Leadership Programme
is fast approaching. Limited to 34 participants who are a
cross section of New Zealanders, the Leadership Programme
offers a unique opportunity to learn from in-depth
conversations with New Zealand leaders.
“We want New Zealand to have a multitude of leaders in every aspect of our community; for those leaders to talk to one another about a future for our country, and for them to keep talking – whatever their role in the future,” explains Jo Brosnahan, Leadership New Zealand Chair. “This is a nationwide conversation that builds leadership capacity, strengthens bonds between sectors and makes us a stronger nation.”
Participants are engaged in leadership conversations affecting New Zealand as a nation and themselves individually as a leader of that nation. Topics include discussion on New Zealand’s past and future, governance and the economy, leadership and innovation and more, with past Programme speakers including Sir Paul Reeves, Jonathan Ling, Andrew Ferrier and Dr. Allan Bollard.
"The programme brings a high level of engagement with key leaders throughout New Zealand, which otherwise would not be available. This in itself has had huge benefits for me, my organisation and my community,” says Teresa Tepania-Ashton, Chief Executive, Te Runanga a-Iwi o Ngapuhi. “As a result of participating, I have gained a much better appreciation of national and international issues and the role we play as leaders, as well as ensuring my own commitment to a balanced lifestyle and the growth of new leaders within our communities."
The Leadership Programme is an opportunity for employers to invest in the future of their organisations through 360 degree thought leadership, increased confidence and growth.
"One of the things that I really like about Leadership New Zealand is that the people on the Programme come from ethnically, culturally, and financially diverse backgrounds,” explains Tony Carter, Managing Director, Foodstuffs Auckland Limited. “It is not simply a programme from business people, but for leaders from all spheres... it is that diversity that is that is the real value to organisations like ours."
