Comedians let loose at Auckland Zoo
Some of New Zealand’s top comedians are offering their comedic services in support of New Zealand native species conservation.
A stellar line-up including Dai Henwood, Jeremy Corbett and Paul Ego – stars of the hugely successful 7Days – perform for two nights only on Wednesday, 22 and Friday, 24 September.
And you get the chance to see them at Auckland Zoo’s Old Elephant House, so you can be sure of a great night out at one of Auckland’s most unique venues.
All funds raised will go toward the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi to purchase an audio system that will assist with its kokako conservation work.
A kokako’s song is hugely important in the capture and translocation of kokako, so conservation workers need high-quality audio equipment to lure them to the capture area, and to play their calls in release areas to help anchor the birds to the release site.
Auckland Zoo NZ Fauna curator Ian Fraser is pleased that the event will help conservation efforts for these native birds.
“We’ve worked with kokako, and know that they are difficult birds to catch, so it’s great that we can help out with this really important piece of equipment.
“These striking birds are endemic to New Zealand, and in Auckland, you are more likely to see them on Tiritiri Matangi than anywhere else. We’re pleased that we can help out the Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi and the great work that they do,” says Mr Fraser.
Tickets are start at $30 and are available from ticketek. There will be a cash bar and barbecue available on the night.
