New CAB Website

New CAB Website

Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) launched their new website yesterday. The public will now have direct access to over 40,000 service providers, organisations and legal information.

Andrew Hubbard of CAB says, “The website provides a distinctive new service. People can now read general information online and visit an office if they need more specific information.”

“The new website has been three years in the making, with an internal website launched in July which means all the CAB offices are operating on the same database and have access to the same information”, he says.

The new website will work alongside the offices and phone services already provided. A live chat option will be added in October, but until then, there is an email question function.

Andrew says that CAB offices will now be able to keep electronic records of queries, which can be used to inform the development of social policy.

CAB’s new website was made possible by support from various organisations, including a $5.5 million donation of software licences by Microsoft New Zealand – the largest donation by the company in New Zealand, and one of the largest international software licence donations.

Elizabeth Ellis, receptionist at Downtown Community Ministry says “The new website is easy to use, and I can find the information I’m looking for quickly. I know many of our service users are going to benefit from this fantastic resource”.

You can visit the new website at: www.cab.org.nz.
