Snow
and celebrations at Mt Hutt for school holidays
A two metre snow base, range of holiday programmes for school age kids and a 10 day long Spring Festival is to welcome families, individuals and groups to Mt Hutt Ski Area for the September school holidays.
Ski Area manager Dave
Wilson says the high country ski area is ready for the
spring skiing season.
“Our snow cover is just awesome and we have a huge range of activities from the pure fun to the serious sport planned over the next two weeks. There’s plenty for all ages and stages to enjoy both on and off the snow. This is a favourite time of year at Mt Hutt – everyone’s laid back and fun is the main item on the agenda.”
A series of School Holiday Development Programmes are focused on getting the kids active in the fresh mountain air while having fun and gaining confidence on the snow
The Kruiser Squad five day holiday programme starting 27 September, caters for novice to advanced skiers (Level 2-6) aged from five to 17 years old or boarders aged from eight to 17 years. The programme provides a friendly, safe and supportive environment to encourage learning and development. Lunch and lunchtime supervision is included in the day that starts at 10am and runs until 3.50pm each day for the five days.
For more advanced skiers (Level 4-6) aged from 12 to 17 years old, the Max Vertical three day programme runs from 28 to 30 September and gets the kids into terrain parks, freeski and steep terrain for three hours a day.
“These programmes are huge fun The kids learn to ski really well, make friends and have heaps of fun as they stretch their comfort zones across the mountain.”
Throughout the first week of the holidays (24 September to 3 October) the Mt Hutt Spring Festival, provides entertainment for the whole family both on and off the slopes with fun-filled activities including the Big Rides Day, Country Day, Downhill Dummy Day, Evening Farmer’s Market, Glide or Dive Pond Skim, Shred the shred and the Peak to Pub challenge.
“And the youngest members of the family are not forgotten - those aged six and under enjoy free day lift passes every day of the season and we have a fully licensed Skiwiland Early Learning Centre for two to five year olds,” said Mr Wilson.
Run by Early Childhood (ECE) trained children’s instructors, the centre provides fun based activity both indoors and outdoors.
“Parents can hit the slopes confident that children are in the best care and having fun,” he said.
