New Zealand’s First Interactive News Billboard launches in the Super City

The Auckland central business district will be home to New Zealand’s first interactive news billboard trial.

Fairfax has launched an interactive digital billboard which features real-time content from Fairfax newspapers from New Zealand and around the world, streamed through New Zealand’s largest online news source, www.stuff.co.nz.

Fairfax Group Sales and Marketing Manager, Sandra King says, “the digital billboard will provide an opportunity for Aucklanders in and around the CBD to keep up to date with news as it happens.”

The 36 square metre interactive news billboard will be placed at strategic sites around the Auckland central business district throughout the week, as Fairfax trials the viability of establishing a central city news billboard long term.

“We believe that there is a need for a news source in the CBD, which will provide a talking point for locals and visitors. We hope that there will enough support from Aucklanders to see the site continue”, says Sandra King.

The trial has gained support from local business leaders who say that as New Zealand’s face to the world, it is essential that the new Super City is leading the way.

Heart of the City CEO, Alex Swney says “at the heart of every great city is a great CBD. Anything we can do to attract more people into the centre city and add vibrancy and interest to the Auckland centre is important.”

The stuff.co.nz digital billboard will be located in Aotea Square today and Tuesday.
