Celebrate the summer with Parnell Festival

Auckland City Council
Media release

28 October 2010

Celebrate the start of summer with Parnell Festival of Roses

Spring into summer with Parnell Festival of Roses on 6 and 7 November. This ever-popular, free family festival at the Parnell Rose Gardens will be the first event delivered by Auckland Council.

From noon to 6pm on both days of the weekend, the festival features a huge range of live music and dance acts on two stages. Highlights include Nairobi Trio, Carolina Moon, Auckland City Brass and AK Dance.

Take the opportunity to browse through craft stalls and experience the magnificent roses in full bloom. There’ll also be plenty of fine food to sample, and a kids’ zone and strolling performers to keep the younger ones entertained.

Take the hassle out of parking by catching the free Westfield bus to the festival. From noon on Saturday and Sunday, the bus will leave from the corner of Customs Street West and Lower Albert Street (outside Westfield Downtown) on the hour and 277 Broadway on the half hour.

All day parking is only five dollars at Downtown car park when you present your festival bus ticket and accessibility parking is free.

The festival coincides with the reopening of the historic Parnell Baths. Festivalgoers are encouraged to check out the newly renovated facility. During opening weekend, there will be a number of performances and free activities at the pools including a free Zumba class and a synchronized water ballet performance. There is no spectator fee during opening weekend.

Auckland Council’s Parnell Festival of Roses is made possible with the support of Westfield, The Lion Foundation and Easy Mix 98.2FM.
