Take a dip for free at the opening of summer pools

Hutt City Council news release

26 October 2010

Take a dip for free at the opening of our summer pools

Summer is nearly here so grab your togs and submerge yourself in one of Hutt City Council’s three summer pools.

To celebrate we’re treating everyone to a free swim on the day the pools open: Wainuiomata Pool on Saturday 6 November, Eastbourne Pool on Saturday 13 November and McKenzie Pool on Saturday 20 November.

Mayor-elect Ray Wallace says the free open days are a great family day out.

“There’s nothing like a swim to cool down when the weather heats up and with six pools open across Lower Hutt during summer we’re spoilt for choice,” he says.

Full day summer pool entry is $2.50 for under-16s and over-60s, and $4 for an adult swim. Swim memberships, at just $9 a week, are also available which make it cheaper for regular-pool goers.

For opening times and information on any council pool visit the Hutt City Council website www.huttcity.govt.nz/pools

Note to editors:

• Naenae Pool is celebrating Halloween with a pool party for eight to 14 year olds on Saturday 30 October, from 6 to 8pm. Get a complimentary drink and sausage as well as games, music, fun zone activities and the Jumping Pillow. An aquarun will be set up with kayaks available, and as it is Halloween there will be plenty of lollies on-hand. Entry is $6.

• We’ve also got a great line-up of pool events planned during the summer school holidays. Check out The Hutt Scene website, wwwthehuttscene.co.nz for details.
