Victoria Theater Resurrected

“The members of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ), Young Executive Club (YEC), All Ethnic Congress (AEC) and the New Zealand Association of Certified Public Accountants (NZACPA) attended the gala historical re-opening of the 98 year old Victoria Theater at Devonport, North Shore City to its glory days and beautifully renovated on Saturday, October 23 , said Alton Shameem JP the Community Leader, Founder, Chairman and President of all the aforementioned organizations at Takapuna, North shore City, Auckland the City of Theaters.

“Victoria Theater the crown jewel of Devonport village and an iconic heritage building saved by the tireless effort of the Victoria Theater Trust as they made this historical event happen and our hearty congratulations to them and all their supporters.

The local Druid priest did the preliminary welcome at the corner of Calliope Road and Victoria Street in front of a huge an eager multitude that was assembled at the village green and the piper lead the march to the Victoria Theater “said Alton Shameem JP the New Zealander-Fijian Civic Leader, Founder, Chairman and President of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ), Young Executive Club (YEC), All Ethnic Congress (AEC) and the New Zealand Association of Certified Public Accountants (NZACPA).

We engaged with the Kaumatua with hone and he then performed the Maori blessings at the entrance of the Victoria Theater as part of the official opening. We then all went for a tour of the theater and were entertained by singers from Devonport Folk Music Club and performers from various local school all day long.

“The Vauxhall Primary School pupils performed the ever popular Maori performing arts the kapahaka and haka, and Gala Morris a student from Takapuna Grammar School sung few songs including her very own popular piece Untouched” said Alton Shameem JP the Multicultural Leader, Founder, Chairman and President of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ), Young Executive Club (YEC), All Ethnic Congress (AEC) and the New Zealand Association of Certified Public Accountants (NZACPA).

“We all had a splendid, happy, entertaining and relaxing day at the well organized and managed Victoria Theater re-opening on a fine sunny day and the cafes and shops were buzzing with patrons” said Alton Shameem JP the Community Leader, Founder, Chairman and President of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ), Young Executive Club (YEC), All Ethnic Congress (AEC) and the New Zealand Association of Certified Public Accountants (NZACPA).
