Burgundy Tasting Set to Thrill Central
Cru
COPNL is delighted to announce details
of the Formal Burgundy Tasting, which will be a highlight of
the 2011 Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration.
Sylvain Pitiot, the multi talented vigneron and regisseur of grand cru monopole Domaine Clos de Tart, wine writer and cartographer, is the confirmed Keynote speaker for the Burgundy tasting. Sylvain’s knowledge of Burgundian vineyards and history is unsurpassed. Having originally trained as a surveyor, he switched to wine-making after a season with Domaine Jacques Prieur in Meursault. After 13 years with the Hospices de Beaune, Sylvain became the regisseur at Domaine Clos de Tart in 1996. This 7.5 hectare grand cru monopole has had only three owners in its 900 year history.
Wines have been carefully selected by Nick Mills giving the tasting rare access to wines special to the Burgundian sense of terroir and typicity. The quality of the burgundies is a reflection of the close relationship between Burgundy and Central Otago producers.
The wines for the Burgundy tasting
are:
(Volnay Nord) Domaine Comtes Armand, Volnay 1er
Cru, Les Frémiets
(Pommard Sud) Domaine de
Courcel, Pommard 1er Cru, or Les Frémiers
(Pommard Nord)
Domaine de Montille, Pommard 1er Cru, Pezerolles
(Nuits
Sud) Domaine Lechenaut, Nuits Saint
Georges 1er Cru, Les Pruliers
